The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) has responded to the news that Rose Ayling-Ellis will be joining the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Rosie Eggleston, Participation Manager at the National Deaf Children鈥檚 Society, said:
鈥淭he news that Rose is joining Strictly will delight deaf fans of all ages.
鈥淒eaf representation is all too rare on-screen, so it鈥檚 really important to see a deaf performer taking to the dancefloor and battling for the聽famous Glitterball trophy. Opportunities like this help raise awareness of deafness and address some of the myths and misconceptions deaf people face every, such as that they can鈥檛 enjoy music.
鈥淚t鈥檚 also really inspiring for the next generation of deaf actors, actresses and performers, who can cheer her on at home knowing that deafness doesn鈥檛 need to hold them back.
鈥淜eep dancing Rose and we can鈥檛 wait to see every judge signing you a perfect ten.鈥
