“My name is Alaa Ewaida, and I am a PhD student at the University of Manchester. I am conducting research on factors influencing spoken language development in deaf children, under the supervision of Professor Anna Theakston, Dr Lindsey Jones, and Dr Kelly Burgoyne.
We are currently inviting families of deaf children to take part in the study. The inclusion criteria for the study are:
· Deaf children aged 2–3 years (up to 3 years and 2 months).
· Any type or degree of deafness, with any device use (hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHA, or none).
· Use spoken language at least 60% of the time at home (this may be alongside sign language or another spoken language)
The aim of the research is to better understand the factors that may influence spoken language development in deaf children, with the hope of supporting future research and practice in this area.
The study is entirely online and can be completed at any time convenient for families. Families interested in taking part can scan the QR code provided on the study flyer.
The study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Manchester Research Ethics Committee (REF: 24295).
If you have any questions, or would like to offer any support or advice to help with recruitment, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].”
