Contract: 听Fixed Term- Initially 2 Terms with the possibility of 3 terms

Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children, North London

We are an exciting, innovative and successful provision for deaf children aged 3 – 16. The Primary school is co-located with Highgate Primary School and the Secondary school is co-located with Fortismere School, Muswell Hill.听 We offer the best of both worlds through quality inclusion and small class specialist teaching. We are looking for an excellent class teacher to join our skilled team of deaf and hearing staff with a commitment to a child centred, sign bilingual approach.

鈥淧upils enjoy coming to this special school. They feel safe and they are happy. All pupils learn British Sign Language (BSL) as well as English. Communication threads through everything at the school. BSL is a vital and vibrant aspect of school life. Pupils and adults communicate throughout the day with humour and warmth.鈥� (Ofsted 2023).

Teaching

We are looking for an excellent Class Teacher to join our skilled team of deaf and hearing staff.

The successful candidate will:

• have experience of teaching in Primary- KS1 or KS2
• promote effective inclusive education for deaf pupils
• have high expectations and excellent planning and adaptive skills
• have knowledge of British Sign Language or a commitment to work towards a minimum BSL Level 3
• have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• be flexible with a commitment to work in partnership with a mainstream team

A Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People (ToD) qualification is desirable but not essential as this is a maternity cover post.听 Additional support and training will be given as required.
